TPO Antibodies vs Thyroglobulin Antibodies Part 1
Show Notes

Many people with Graves’ Disease or Hashimoto’s also have thyroid peroxidase (TPO) antibodies.

TPO antibodies develop when the immune system attacks thyroid peroxidase, an enzyme that plays a significant role in synthesizing thyroid hormone.  Elevated TPO antibody levels point to an inhibition of the production of thyroid hormone, which can eventually lead to hypothyroidism, even in those with Graves’.

Today I’m sharing everything you need to know about why TPO antibodies develop and how to address them.

In this episode, you’ll learn:
- What is thyroid peroxidase (TPO), and how does it work?
- What elevated TPO antibodies indicate
- The triad of autoimmunity
- Functional reference ranges for TPO antibodies
- The relationship between TPO and iron
- How to decrease TPO antibodies

As always, I hope you find this episode valuable, and I look forward to catching you in the next episode!
