Save My Thyroid: Healing Tips for Hyperthyroidism and Hashimoto's

Is it possible to shrink an extremely large goiter?

Dr. Eric Osansky DC, IFMCP

A goiter is an enlargement of the thyroid gland commonly caused by issues such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, insulin resistance, problems with estrogen metabolism, and iodine deficiency.

While it is possible to shrink a goiter, there are a number of factors to consider. Even though my goal is to save as many thyroid glands as possible, there is a time and place for thyroid surgery. Today, I’m sharing the factors that influence whether or not you can shrink a large goiter and when to consider thyroid surgery or natural treatment alternatives.

In this episode, you’ll learn:
- Understanding what a goiter is
- Common causes of goiters
- My experience with a mild goiter related to Graves' disease
- Challenges in shrinking large goiters
- When to consider thyroid surgery
- The importance of addressing underlying issues and lifestyle factors
- Differentiating between thyroid nodules and goiters
- What you need to know about iodine testing
- Risks associated with iodine supplementation

As always, I hope you find this episode valuable, and I look forward to catching you in the next episode!
